Dr. Yanpeng Xue is majored in surface engineering and electrochemistry. Dr. Xue obtained his PhD degree in materials electrochemistry from University of Pierre & Marie Curie (Sorbonne University now) in 2014. After working as postdoc in University of Southampton, University of Turin and University of Ulm, he joined in the National Center for Materials Service Safety, University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2017. The research interests of Dr. Xue include cathodic plasma electrolytic deposition, electrocatalysts for water electrolysis, high-speed laser cladding, boron-doped diamond electrodes. He has presided over more than 20 projects and published more than 100 journal papers, holding 6 authorized Chinese invention patents.
Research and development of a variety of surface technologies for the purpose of corrosion resistance, wear resistance and functionality, including: cathodic plasma electrolytic deposition, micro-arc oxidation, electrocatalysts for water electrolysis, high-speed laser cladding, boron-doped diamond electrodes, electrochemical deposition, low-temperature nano-catalytic nitriding and other surface technologies:
--the development of continuous cathodic plasma electrolytic deposition and electrodeposition of coatings and technologies to prepare metallurgically bonded metals (Ni, Cr, etc.), ceramic coatings and superhydrophobic coating on the surface of steel, aluminum, titanium and nickel alloys;
--the use of electrochemical deposition and hydrothermal method to produce high-performance electrocatalysts and bipolar plate coatings for electrochemical energy conversion including ALK water electrolysis, AEM water electrolysis, Seawater electrolysis to produce green hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cells, and so on;
--the use of high-speed laser cladding to develop the wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant high-temperature alloy coating systems (nickel-base, iron-base, titanium-base, high-entropy alloys, etc.) and processes to obtain a highly wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant laser cladding layers, which is significantly better than that of hard chromium plating;
--using microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition technology to prepare high-performance boron-doped diamond electrodes for applications in electrochemical wastewater treatment and electrochemical biosensors.
